Violence Intervention

What is the Violence Intervention group?

The Violence Intervention group is designed for persons who have been convicted of partner or family member assault or persons seeking education and intervention strategies for violence in their lives. All court-ordered, DFS, mandated & personal referrals are welcome.

A well-trained facilitator leads the groups and focuses on areas such as: Addictive relationships, Power & control wheel, domestic violence and the law, cycle of violence & anger management, etc.

Weekly session fees charged on sliding fee scale based on income.

Outcomes and objectives

bulletTo become and remain a law-abiding citizen, especially relating to the use of violence.
bulletTo Increase understanding of cues and triggers that can lead to violence or controlling of others.
bulletTo increase the understanding of each participant of the causes of his violence by examining cultural and social contexts in which he uses violence against others, especially woman.
bulletTo increase the participant’s willingness to change his actions by examining negative effects of behavior in his relationship to others and to himself.
bulletTo encourage participants to become accountable to those he has hurt through violence and to accept responsibility and take specific steps to change.
bulletTo provide participant with practical information on how to change abusive behavior into new ways of relating to women and other people.

Violence Intervention for Men

Meets Mondays (except holidays) from 6-8:00 pm at HRDC
2229 5th Ave Havre, MT

(NOTE: Use North Entrance)

Intakes are at 5:15 pm preceding group

Violence Intervention for Women

Meets Thursdays (except holidays) from 2-4pm at HRDC
2229 5th Ave Havre, MT

Intakes are at 1:30 pm preceding group
